Here's a quick start tutorial to take fully advantage of it.
Universal Piper is a midi virtual instrument. It can be used solely or included in a DAW(*).
It responds to midi note On/Off from Ab3 to Bb4 (for the standart GHB presets), which correspond to the natural scale of the GHB instrument; but can be also used with a midi practice chanter.
If you want to find your own usage notation you can open the 'setup' panel and change the default notation of the software (from Breton, Scottish, or international)
Every modification you make will be saved by the software and reloaded as default configuration next time you open it.
Some Universal Piper important Notions:
First point:
Universal Piper is composed of several presets.
Each of those presets is dedicated to reproduce a bagpipe sound. There are factory presets that you cannot modify but duplicate and rename. Once duplicated and renamed every modification you make to the sound can be stored by clicking the save button.
Every preset you make can be exported to be send to another piper. You can also delete one of your preset.
Once you have a library of presets you can recall them automaticaly with the usage of Comand Control midi messages ... More about that in the Setup Panel explanation.
Second point:
A Universal Piper instrument is a bagpipe consisting in the combination of a chanter and a panel of drones. Factory presets are combinations that we propose from genuine sampled
instruments. But you can mix chanters and drones from different bagpipe libraries to built and try to achieve the sound you like the best. See chanter and Drones panel for more
information.
Each instrument respond to midi messages that correspond to its real natural scale.
